The kids are back in school so give them a fun, new space that will make them look forward to studying and homework! Instead of giving them a small workspace in the corner of their bedroom or squeezed onto the busy kitchen counter, designate an area in a separate room where they can better concentrate… even a niche in a hallway.

The image below shows a small alcove in an upstairs hallway which Christine Haught, Ltd. Interior Design converted to a homework area for a young boy. Sleek, contemporary furniture and a color block lamp make this area inviting and cozy, without being too distracting. Artwork allows this space to feel more like a “room” and simultaneously offers educational benefits for the child.

We also took advantage of the built-in shelving next to the desk area. This was previously used for decorative accessories, but will now be used as a functional bookcase, as well as storage for school supplies. Having a defined area for schoolwork is a great way to separate “work” and “play.” Please contact us today so we can get started on your child’s Back to School space!

Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps learning stays young.” – Henry Ford
