As we welcome 2015 at Christine Haught, Ltd. Interior Design, we also celebrate the milestone of our fifteen year anniversary of being in business. Throughout this year, we will be sending seasonal newsletters to share moments and lessons Christine has learned throughout her journey as an interior designer.

o start the year off, we will focus on Chicago, Illinois where Christine settled soon after graduating from West Virginia University. While in Chicago, Christine held positions with two companies and her employers taught her valuable skills that she continues to use today. While working for Marilyn Akins and Donna Aylesworth, Christine learned how to procure products for clients and in turn, how to place those items, both in merchandising the retail store and in clients’ homes. She learned aspects about the business including how to find reputable vendors and how to turn her passion into a business.

While working for Dale Carol Anderson, Christine learned how to work with high-end and primarily custom residential products. Learning how to complete every detail of a project ranging from paint and plumbing to specifying trimmings on draperies is a skill that continues to prevail in Christine’s business practices. Dale is a savvy businesswoman and taught Christine the intricacies of running and owning a small business.

Christine’s experiences led her to the moment when she would hang her shingle for the first time, in 2000, in a warehouse loft in the west loop of Chicago. She is grateful for the opportunity to begin her business venture with her very first clients, many of whom remain with her today.

I am always doing that which I cannot do, in order that I may learn how to do it.. – Pablo Picasso
